The magic of Ferragosto arrives to our garden

Can Bordoy family will emulate this famous Italian feast, which our neighbouring country has celebrated since the era of Emperor Augustus, with an unlimited barbecue comprised of red prawns and Iberian secreto pork loin, accompanied with exquisite entrées, side dishes and desserts. There will also be many other surprises, allowing guests to commemorate the high point of the summer in the best way possible.

Although the 15th August is an important date in many of Spain’s towns and cities, with pilgrimages in honour of the Virgin Mary, in Italy it is a major national holiday called Ferragosto. In addition to its religious connotations, this unique date marks the beginning of summer holiday for many Italians, who can’t wait to escape the infernal heat of the city and head towards the beach or the mountains. They often celebrate this special date with a big party such as the one that Can Bordoy Grand House & Garden (Palma de Mallorca), the iconic, 5-star, Grand Luxury hotel, will host on the evening of the 14th August.

According to Giovanni Merello, general manager of the establishment, and as an Italian a connoisseur of this celebration: “Ferragosto is a major symbol in Italian culture as it unites the two of the concepts for which we are best known throughout the world: exquisite cuisine and holding a party. This is something that also defines Can Bordoy Grand House & Garden, and this shines through in all its splendour thanks to the beauty of our private garden, the largest in the Balearic capital, along with the excellent creations of our chef, Andrés Benítez, from Botànic restaurant.

Therefore, next Wednesday at 7.30 p.m., on the eve of Ferragosto, our 750 square metre garden will be dressed up to host a unique event featuring an exquisite and unlimited barbecue of red prawns and Iberian secreto pork loin, accompanied with beetroot gazpacho, hummus with crudités, tomato salad and baba ganoush with cottage cheese, and varied entrées including: sautéed vegetables, potatoes rissole with herbs, tartare and chimichurri sauces and a wide selection of desserts. Guests will be able savour all of these delights in an exclusive atmosphere, while enjoying a party which will be full of surprises, making the middle of the summer an unforgettable date.
